Data practices matrix

InformationWhen collectedPurpose and legal basisWhere sharedRetention
Face, hair, and makeup photosWhen you capture or import a photo for a try-on.Generate your requested preview and preserve facial identity; contract.OpenRouter and its image inference provider process the image under their own data policies. Cloudflare stores uploaded hair photos, references, and results for delivery. CutWise does not use them for advertising or train its own models on them.Uploaded hair photos, references, and generated results expire after 24 hours and are removed from CutWise cloud storage by scheduled cleanup. Makeup previews are returned without server storage. A finished photo you choose to keep in the app stays on this iPhone until you delete local data or the app. Copies exported to Photos or Files stay under your control.
Hair profileWhen you choose texture, length, and preferences.Sort looks; contract.Stored on your device.Until you edit or delete it.
Selected looks and render activityWhen you start or check a hair render.Queue the look, show its status, deliver the result, and account for try-ons; contract.Cloudflare stores the selected look ID, job ID, status, timestamps, and a result reference. CutWise does not use these records for advertising.Render job records and their cloud photos expire after 24 hours and are removed by scheduled cleanup. Your local render history remains on this iPhone until you delete local data or the app.
Anonymous install token and credit usageWhen you request your first free hair try-on or use a paid preview.Enforce one free hair try-on per app installation, subscription monthly credits, and purchased credit balances; contract and abuse prevention.Cloudflare stores a random install identifier, Apple transaction and app transaction identifiers when applicable, credit grants, and usage counts. These are not face recognition identifiers and are not used for advertising. The free-use record is kept to prevent repeated free claims from the same installation. Monthly and purchased credit records are kept while needed to enforce balances and resolve billing or support issues. Contact support to request deletion.
Stylist messages and occasion notesWhen you ask the stylist a question or describe an occasion.Answer your question, suggest looks, or classify an occasion; contract.Forwarded to OpenRouter and its inference provider for processing. CutWise does not store these messages or notes as a server-side conversation.Conversation remains in app memory while the screen is open. OpenRouter and its provider have separate retention policies.
Notification tokenOnly if you allow alerts for finished renders.Notify you when a render finishes or fails; consent.Cloudflare stores the Expo push token with the render job and sends it to Expo to deliver the notification. The token is removed from CutWise cloud storage with the render job after 24 hours. Expo handles notification delivery under its own policy. You can turn alerts off in CutWise Settings or iOS Settings.
IP address and request countersWhen you use the online stylist, render, makeup, or purchase verification endpoints.Limit abuse and keep the service available; legitimate interests.Cloudflare processes the request and stores short-lived rate-limit counters keyed by IP address or a hash of it.Counters reset within 24 hours and expired rows are removed during scheduled cleanup. Cloudflare may retain its own security logs under its policies.
Name, email, and account IDOnly for accounts created in earlier beta versions.Maintain or delete the existing account; contract.Cloudflare account/database services and email delivery infrastructure.Until the account is deleted, subject to legal retention requirements.
Purchase informationWhen you buy or restore a subscription or credit pack.Verify entitlement and credit grants, restore access, prevent fraud; contract and legitimate interests.Apple processes payment. We receive transaction/product identifiers and active status, not full card details. For credit balance, entitlement, and legally required accounting periods.
Email abuse-prevention countersWhen a legacy account requests a code.Prevent abusive email sending; legitimate interests.Cloudflare as service provider. Addresses are stored as SHA-256 hashes in these counters.Counters reset after 15 minutes. Expired rows are normally removed at the next scheduled cleanup.
DiagnosticsWhen an online request or render fails, or if you send a support bundle.Diagnose render, notification, and entitlement failures; legitimate interests.Cloudflare processes operational logs such as job IDs, error messages, and request status. A support bundle you choose to send goes to Sansavision support and does not include source photos by default.Operational logs follow Cloudflare's service retention settings. Support bundles remain until the support case is closed.
Earlier beta check-insOnly if you submitted an “After the chair” check-in in an earlier beta.Review how a look worked for you; legitimate interests.Stored in CutWise's Cloudflare database. New check-ins stay only on your iPhone.Earlier beta records remain until a deletion request is handled. Contact support to request removal.

What stays on your iPhone

Hair profile, bookmarked styles, render history, and photos you explicitly keep in CutWise stay on this iPhone. A style bookmark does not save a generated photo. Use “Keep photo on this iPhone” or the iOS share sheet before the 24-hour cloud preview expires. An account is not required to browse, try a look, purchase, restore, or share a finished look.

Accounts

This version does not offer account creation. If you made an account in an earlier beta, you can delete it in Settings while signed in. Look history in this version stays on the iPhone and does not sync across devices.

Face photos

Face and hair images are sensitive even when not used for identification. Originals are processed only for the requested try-on. FaceLock composites the original face region onto a generated hair image; CutWise does not create or retain face recognition embeddings. CutWise does not sell images, use them for advertising, or train its own models on them. OpenRouter and its inference provider process the images under their own data policies.

Deletion

“Delete local data” removes app-stored scans, bookmarks, render history, and photos you chose to keep in CutWise. It cannot remove a copy you exported to Photos or Files. Uploaded hair photos, references, and generated results expire after 24 hours; scheduled cleanup removes them from Cloudflare storage. Existing beta accounts can be deleted in Settings while signed in.

Children

CutWise is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
